Supporting Best Community Pub
At Admiral Taverns we are champions of community pubs and the passionate, dedicated licensees that run them. Up and down the country these small businesses play an invaluable role in their local area, enriching communities and providing important social hubs which draw people together. There is, after all, nothing better than ‘a great local.’
As the UK’s leading community pub group we understand the magic of what makes a true community pub great. Great pubs are run by great people and we have an absolute focus and dedication to supporting our licensees to develop both their businesses and themselves. We believe in building long standing working partnerships with our licensees and take a bespoke approach to each pub, supporting the team on the path to long-term success.
We are enormously proud to be once again sponsoring the Best Community Pub category at the 2018 Great British Pub Awards. It is a chance to shine a light on some of the pubs which are genuine beacons in their local community and recognise the entrepreneurial people behind them.
The process to find the Community Pub of the Year will of course identify great pubs, with supreme standards, friendly, fantastically-trained staff, with a great range of products and services – and possess all the other hallmarks of strong pub businesses. But the finalists, and eventual winner, of this category must be much more than this – pubs that are community centres run by passionate and talented licensees who make a genuine and telling contribution to the immediate world around them.
Let the search for the prestigious Community Pub of the Year 2018 begin! Good luck to all who enter and for more information about us call 0845 0708950 or visit www.admiraltaverns.co.uk

Supporting Best Cider Bar/ Pub
We’ve been making cider since the dawn of time. Well, there or there-abouts, so we know a thing or two about it.
Tales tell that when our ancestors needed to quench their thirst, they would beseech ’Shepton’ the Great God of Cider, to bestow upon them a perfectly balanced, easy drinking pint, bursting with the sweet tang of finest Somerset apples. Legend has it that Shepton would call forth a whirlwind of ripe russets which he would smash and pulp with his mighty mallet until cider – the sweet nectar of the gods – was created.
From the heart of the Mendip Hills in the rolling Somerset countryside, Showering’s Cider Mill has been a place of pilgrimage for cider lovers for hundreds of years.
Today, as you know, it is the home of Mallets, the endlessly refreshing cider made from our locally sourced and freshly pressed Somerset apples.
Available in Draught – Mallets Original 4.5% ABV and Mallets Dark Fruit 4.0% ABV and 500ml Can Mallets Original 5.0% ABV and Mallets Dark Fruit 4.0% ABV
Long Live the Local
Long Live The Local is the new campaign from Britain’s Beer Alliance, following the success of There’s A Beer For That. The new campaign will rally the British public and celebrate pubs. 3 pubs a day close. Between Beer Duty, Business Rates and VAT, pubs are under increasing tax pressure – the UK pays the 3rd highest Beer Duty in Europe and 7 out of 10 drinks sold in a pub is beer.
Beer Duty is set to rise again in November, so we’re asking locals all across the country to sign a petition asking for a cut in beer tax.
Pubs can help by visiting www.longlivethelocal.pub, signing the petition, writing to your MP and requesting a supporter pack.
