Greene King is the UK’s largest pub company and brewer, with a history stretching back more than 200 years in its hometown of Bury St Edmunds in Suffolk.
Today, it runs around 1,600 pubs across England, Scotland and Wales, and works closely with a further 1,000 leased and tenanted partners in the Greene King Pub Partners division.
In March 2021 Greene King recorded a hat-trick of wins at the Publican Awards, winning best community pub operator and best leased and tenanted pub company, with chief executive Nick Mackenzie also winning business leader of the year.
Greene King’s commitment to its Pub Partners division was praised by judges, particularly for the way the company supported its tied pub tenants during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Greene King has been proud to sponsor the Great British Pub Awards for a number of years, as the awards play a key role in supporting and highlighting some of the country’s best publicans.
In 2018 and 2019 the overall Great British Pub of the Year award was won by a Greene King tied pub tenant and the positive impact this award win has had on their business has been immeasurable.
It has been another tough year for our industry so far as we look to rebuild after months of lockdown, and we are looking forward to this year’s event celebrating the return of the Great British Pub and looking forward to brighter times ahead.
Congratulations to all the finalists!
