Great British Pub Awards

The Great British Pub Awards 2014 - Enter your business now!

Is your pub in the premier league?

If you want to enjoy the feeling of lifting a winner's trophy then don't miss your chance to enter the Great British Pub Awards 2014.

The Publican's Morning Advertiser is now scouting for the best pubs in the business and wants entries from great pubs from around the UK.

There are 17 categories now open for your entries and the range of categories is designed to let the strengths of different types of pub business shine through. Licensees are free to enter as many categories as they wish.

Categories range from Best Community Pub, Best Freehouse, Best Partnership Pub (formerly Best Tenanted/Leased Pub) and Best Managed Pub to awards recognising specific offers such as entertainment, sport, spirits, food, wine and cask beer.

Two exciting new categories have also been launched for this year's awards - Best Cider Pub and Best Pub Loos.

The rewards for being selected as a finalist or winning a Great British Pub Award are numerous - from helping increase profits and attract new customers, giving your team a well-deserved pat on the back, generating excellent press coverage for your pub and helping you attract great new staff to work in your business.

As Tom Gee, winner of Best Freehouse and overall title of Great British Pub of the Year 2013, says:

"Nothing can make you feel better than winning the award. From a personal point of view and a team point of view it is amazing. In this business you have to take your boosts as much as you can and it is fantastic to have your progress recognised when you and your team work extremely hard. From a marketing point of view the award has been extremely helpful and our win has undoubtedly helped us grow sales again this year and recruit staff who want to work at an award winning business. I would definitely recommend entering to other licensees. The benefits are fantastic."

Another previous winner, Anton Piotrowski, chef/owner of the Treby Arms, Sparkwell, Devon which won  Best Food Pub 2013 says:

"This is a well-respected industry accolade which is amazing for your staff and your business. The application process makes you look at the bigger picture, not just the quality of the food you offer. The event itself provided a good networking opportunity whilst the award has boosted takings. There was a lot of local press coverage surrounding our win, which has brought more people through the door, and, consequently, trade has increased by 15%."

All category finalists are invited to a glittering awards ceremony on Thursday, 11 September at London's Hilton Hotel on Park Lane, where winners are revealed. This year's awards ceremony will have an exciting sports theme.

Publican's Morning Advertiser editor Rob Willock says: "The Great British Pub Awards are the industry Oscars. It's the one to win and can really put pubs on the map. Time spent entering the awards will be invaluable to your business."
